Christmas movie/tv traditions

Christmas movie traditions:

1. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation....uh duh! This is like the ULTIMATE Christmas movie. I've been watching this one every Christmas Eve since it came out on video in 1990. This is the movie that ALWAYS gets me into the Christmas spirit.

2. It's a Wonderful Life- I try to watch this one on Christmas Eve too, but it is pretty long. This is such a beautiful movie, in so many ways. It's also so inspirational! If I ever need a mood boost during the holidays, I put this movie on.

3. A Christmas Story- Yes, I don't have to buy this movie, cause it's on TNT for 24 hours straight on Christmas Day. I definitely get enough of Ralphie by the time the clock hits midnight on Christmas Day...usually before then. lol

4. Home Alone- Either 1 or 2, pick one. I don't care. I love them both equally! This movie was my childhood man!!! I remember seeing both of those in the theater! Love the music, love the cast, loves the laughs. Love it all!

Now on to TV specials/movies:

1. The Simpsons- Episode 1: Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire- Yes, this is where it all began...the very first episode of that amazing show called The Simpsons. The year was 1989. I was 10 years old, and I remember watching this with my parents and my brother in my feety pajamas. lol. The animation may suck, and the characters may not be totally developed, but it's all there! Great episode, and there were many more good Christmas episodes to come, but I can't list them all

2. Married With Children- Those Bundys put on some great Christmas episodes! The season 4 episode was with the late comedian Sam Kinnison as Al's guardian angel. How perfect is that?! The season 2 episode was almost as funny, when Santa Claus came crashing down into the Bundy's backyard, and they have to move Santa's body out of the house without any of the kids seeing a dead Santa. God, this is some great stuff!!!

3. A Charlie Brown Christmas Special- What can I say about this amazing tv special that hasn't already been said? It is CLASSIC with a capital C. Every Christmas, I never miss it. And if I do miss it, I YouTube it.

4. South Park- Mr. Hankey's Christmas- Classic, classic episode, from season 1. If you don't know who Mr. Hankey is, then you are missing out. A talking, singing piece of poo that gives out presents to children with high fiber in their diet. Need I say more?

5. South Park- Merry Christmas Charlie Manson- Another classic episode from the early seasons. We get to travel to Nebraska to meet Cartman's family, who are all exactly like him. That alone is worth a watch!!   The boys get mixed up with Charlie Manson, and hilarity ensues. I won't say any more, just watch the damn episode!!!

6. Nip/Tuck- Joy Kringle- Nip/Tuck put out some great Christmas episodes as well. This one in particular, has Sean and Julia sitting at an abortion clinic on Christmas Eve (Btw, what abortion clinic is open on Christmas Eve?)  It has a woman finding out that she's had a dead baby in her uterus for the last 20 years, and it has Matt's girlfriend practically burning her face off when trying to bleach her skin, so everybody knows she's WHITE. Yes, you know what I'm talking about. This episode is CRAZY, but I have to watch it every year

7. Nip/Tuck- Reefer- Come on, who can forget drunken Sean as Bad Santa? I know, I can't! What about drunken Sean, the plastic surgeon? Yes everybody, the show goes there! It also involves a homeless man who gets cleaned out of all his organs on Christmas Eve...Happy Holidays everyone! This episode almost made me go to therapy!

8. The Office- I can't talk about my favorite TV Christmas episodes and not include The Office!! They, by far, have put on the BEST Christmas episodes to date, but I'm only gonna talk about one, the season 2 episode, where Michael buys an video ipod as his secret santa gift, causing major major chaos with his employees, when they were only supposed to spend 20 bucks total on their gifts. Michael's unhappy with his own gift he receives, so he rudely changes the gift exchange to a "yankee swap." You can imagine how well that goes over when everybody bought specific gifts for specific people. Yes everybody, this is the episode where Angela's creepy baby poster was born!!! And I have to admit, I did buy myself a video ipod the day after this episode aired.

9. Full House- Our Very First Christmas- This episode is very nostalgic for me. I remember watching it when it first aired. I was in the car, on my way to Bakersfield for our family Christmas. We had this little mini B&W tv, and we watched it in the car! This is the episode where the Tanners get stranded at the airport on Christmas Eve, and Stephanie is worried Santa Claus won't find her. First off all, back when this first aired, I was about 8, and probably still believed in Santa, so I was very worried for Stephanie. lol I watched this episode tonight, and can't believe that episode aired 22 years ago!! I can still remember ever detail about it

So, that's about it for now. If I think of any more, I'll add them. Those are my traditions, everybody has different ones, and you probably don't agree with mine...that's fine. You might be wondering why I don't have The Grinch on my list anywhere...well, to be honest, I've never been a big fan of it. Ya...we'll just agree to disagree on some of these. lol
